Great Pyrenees (long coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Adult : : X-Large
Gandalf was in rough shape when he was picked up by Animal Control in a rural North Texas county. The people who called Animal Control said that Gandalf had been hanging around their area for a few weeks, being perfectly nice and not causing any trouble, then some other dogs came along and ganged up on him. Thankfully, his wounds were all minor, so after a round of antibiotics, vaccinations, and neuter surgery, Gandalf was looking and feeling much better! Gandalf is still a bit leaner than he should be, so he needs to put on some weight. And of course, with continuing good nutrition, his coat will become even more gorgeous than it already is. He has been safe with our livestock, including chickens, though it's hard to say how serious he might be about guarding the livestock. He walks the perimeter and pays attention to potential predators, so he might be VERY serious. At Windsong Ranch, Gandalf is one of several working livestock guardians, so he doesn't have to work TOO hard. If he moves to a home where he is a solo LGD, or one of a pair, he might be much more serious about his job. Gandalf is extremely friendly with people, he mostly ignores the barn cats, and he gets along with most other dogs. Of the many dogs that he has met at Windsong Ranch, the only dog that Gandalf doesn't like is an intact male. We're betting that once there's no more scent of testosterone getting in the way, Gandalf and the other male will most likely get along.
