Akbash (short coat) : : Female : : Young : : Large
River came to us from Tennessee, where she had been growing up around goats, llamas, and chickens. River spends most of her her time in the pasture, learning to be a livestock guardian dog under the supervision of our more mature livestock guardian dogs . She is very friendly and likes the company of people. She has a solid start with goats and chickens, but she will need continued supervision and training if you want her to be a livestock guardian at maturity. Because she is too young for spay, she will only be available as foster-to-adopt, with spay surgery required by a specific date that will be spelled out in the adoption agreement. We prefer to have it done by OUR vet and will pay the cost, but if you prefer to have your vet do the surgery, it will be at your expense, and proof of spay will need to be provided from the vet to us before the adoption will be finalized.
