Collin and his pals Campbell and Corrina were living on their own at a horse ranch where they had been left behind when the owners moved away. Neighbors had been feeding them, and finally someone called animal control, who picked them up and took them to the shelter. Collin was so frightened in the shelter that he literally peed on himself when the ACO (Animal Control Officer) picked him up to bring him out to my van. He had to carry him because Collin was too frightened to take a single step on a leash.

Here at Windsong Ranch, Collin continues to be timid with people but seems very comfortable otherwise. He is shy to approach us but will approach with tail wagging. At first, when we got close Collin would go down on his belly and put his head down, which makes us wonder whether someone had mistreated him in the past. But now after a few weeks being here he is standing tall when approaching, although he's still shy. It's hard to know whether he was abused, or just never socialized. But he's beginning to think that maybe we humans are not so terrible after all. Collin is making great progress in his socialization and we think he will continue that with the right adopter.

Collin is a good size male -- he weighed about 82 Lbs when he was neutered, and will of course put on a little more weight with proper care and good food. He is currently living in the pasture with our goats and donkeys, and he seems to have good guardian instincts.
