Luna was bought as a puppy and put in with sheep, goats and chickens. She did fine for a while, and then reached a stage where she thought the goats made good playmates. She was too rough in her play to be left with them unattended, so her family brought her to us.  Here, Luna has been very well-behaved. Because she's young (not yet 2 years old), we don't leave her with the livestock unattended. But we can put her in the pasture with our goats and guineas, and she doesn't bother them. We let her in the pasture when we're there to supervise, and then we move her from the pasture to a paddock, where she is adjacent to goats without being IN with them full-time. This way, she is always conditioned to being around livestock. She is very close to being at an age where we think she can be trusted in the pasture full-time, but of course, because she's a young adult, we would recommend pairing her with an experienced LGD who can make sure she doesn't get bored and try to play (too rough) with the livestock.

The breeder who sold Luna was either unscrupulous or uninformed, because they said she is a purebred Great Pyrenees. Ummm.... no, that is DEFINITELY not the case.  Our best guess is that Luna is probably an Akbash, possibly mixed with Pyrenees. But her looks and disposition seem more Akbash to us than Pyrenees.

Luna is a very friendly, exuberant dog, and we think she could easily make the transition from the pasture to life as a companion dog. She would need lots of exercise, because she has a high energy level. She loves the water, so would most likely be very happy to accompany you to the lake or beach, on camping and hiking trips. Luna gets along well with all the other dogs here, and the only minor issue we have noted is that if she is paired with a female who has food aggression, that seems to bring out a little food aggression in Luna. We've only seen this one time so far, and she has been with us since 1/21/2016.  So we don't think it's really a problem LUNA has, but rather one that she responds to in other dogs.
