Great Pyrenees / Akbash / Mixed (long coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult : : X-Large
Lexi is a beautiful Great Pyrenees who was adopted and lived with a family, including an infant who became a toddler during Lexi's time with them. She did very well with the child AND with the family's smaller dog. Unfortunately, the family's circumstances have changed, and Lexi needs a new home. She is back at Windsong Ranch, and has been to the vet for a check-up with annual vaccinations. Lexi gets along well with other dogs, and when she has occasion to be in the barn, she seems to ignore our barn cats. She has a few favorite playpals, including both male and female dogs, ranging in size from 40 lbs to 115 lbs, so she doesn't discriminate based on gender or size. Lexi is is dependably house (potty)-trained, but when we leave the house, we usually put her in the crate because she can be a counter-surfer when there's no supervision. She goes into the crate willingly and doesn't complain, though of course, we rarely put any dog in the crate for more than a couple of hours. Lexi also enjoys spending time in our yard, and she has a big bark that she uses when she sees or hears something in the pasture. She goes into the chicken yard just about every day, so if you have a flock of back-yard chickens, you can trust Lexi not to think they are meant for the dinner table. But don't misunderstand -- she is a house pet, not a livestock guardian. She wants to be where her family is, whether that is outside or in the house, snuggled on the sofa. If you would like to meet Lexi, please complete an application on our website at www.bluebonnetrescue.org.
